If I was in marketing and had to create a slogan for Fabbian, it would read "Purveyors of innovation in light."

Wall Tattoos

Bye-bye Vintage Wall Templates

Hello, wall tattoos.  I call them reinvented wall stencils.  And they are gorgeous.

These fabulous creations are excellent design tools to makeover a room at a fraction of the price.  They range from elegant to fun.  Use them in the living room, dining room, children's room, a hall, etc.  If you don't like it, remove and install another one.  The biggest issue you may have is selecting one from the myriad of pattern offerings.

Here are a couple of websites to jump-start your research:  www.dezignwithaz.com and  www.walltat.com.

Artist Gaze - Jeff Owen

From Scrap to Marvel

Jack and Jill

I saw Jeff Owen's sculptures two and half years ago.  The ones I saw were modern kinetic theater.  I vowed to put his work on our collector's list.  Then an odd thing happened.  Owen's contact information went MIA.

Owen's business card resurfaced yesterday... in a pocket of one of my husband's dress pants. He could not remember why he had it.  Today, I remembered. It all flooded back to me upon thorough exam of the card.  A couple of years ago, I stopped and awed at the enormous, calderesque, tightrope act styled mobiles on display.  I chatted with Jeff Owen on his creations, took his card, and gave it to my husband to carry since I traveled light that day - wearing a smoking red dress with no pockets and no purse.  That was the mistake.  I gave the card to the man to hold.

It's hard not to like an artist who describes his technique as "brute force."  He forms his creations at-the-moment.  Owen's sculptures are also green.  He recycles scrap metal and forges it into 3D wonders.

Owen is a versatile artist.  He paints too.  See more of his work here.

Pool Cleaning Made Easy and Green

Solar-Breeze Pool Cleaner

Solar-Breeze's pool cleaner is a sun powered robot that skims the pool to remove leaves, debris, organic material, pollens, dust and even suntan oils from the surface of your pool before they sink to the bottom.  That is smart and green!

Affordable Modern Tea Time

Modern Teapot by Dansk ($50)

I came across this high-styled teapot accidentally, of course.  Since I posted a more expensive option yesterday, I thought to balance it with an economical find.  Well done, Dansk!

Simple Home Theater

Basement Home Theater Room

This is a budget friendly home theater renovation.  The main construction items are the 2 storage areas flanking the projection screen.  One is a closet; the other is shelving for equipment.  Add paint, recessed lighting, and carpet.  Done.

If implementing recessed lighting is an issue, do track lighting.
